THE CEREMONY OF THE KEYS
The Ceremony of the Keys is the traditional locking up of the Tower of London each night. Set amidst the mighty battlements of this ancient fortress, it is one of the oldest and most colourful surviving ceremonies of its kind having been enacted every night, without fail, for well over 700 years in much the same form as we know it today.
There is no better time to enjoy the majesty of the Tower of London then when the public visitors have left for the day, and it is just the Yeoman Warders and the ravens still there.
Prior to attending the Ceremony of the Keys, guests will be taken on an hour- long external tour by a Yeoman Warder. The Yeoman Warders live at the Tower and have remarkable stories to tell, about it’s history. As well as letting you in on a few secrets about life as a modern-day resident (try ordering pizza to be delivered and then giving your address as The Tower of London)
Following your tour, you will assemble to witness this historic ceremony.
With the Tower secure for another evening, guests depart.
LE PONT DE LA TOUR
Located, on the south bank of the Thames, by Tower Bridge Le Pont de la Tour is the perfect place to begin your evening as we welcome you with a glass of Champagne.
Le Pont de la Tour overlooks the river Thames, with a focus on traditional yet innovative French cuisine. The restaurant draws inspiration from classic French cuisine with unexpected but thoughtful twists.
You will enjoy a three-course dinner with accompanying wines.
After dinner we will have cars waiting to take you across Tower Bridge to the Tower of London.
Provisional Itinerary:
6.00pm Guest Meet at the Pont de La Tour, Butlers Wharf
Champagne on arrival
Three course dinner
8.00pm Cars arrive to take you to the Tower of London
8.30pm Private external tour of the Tower of London with the Yeoman Warden
9.45pm Guests are gathered at Traitors Gate for the Ceremony of the Keys
10.05pm Ceremony ends and guests depart via the West Gate.
