The second part of the trip will be dedicated to the Sorrento Peninsula and its undisputed pearls: Sorrento, Capri and Amalfi, which will reveal enchanting corners dotted with history and archaeological discoveries.

Perhaps not everyone knows that the first railway line in the Italian peninsula was born in Naples and that the largest railway museum in Italy is located there.

For those who wish to undertake the whole trip by train, we will depart a day earlier from London with an overnight stay in Milan.

Tour Itinerary

Together with the guide and moving by public transport we will explore the historic centre and its treasures: the Cathedral, the Via dei Presepi, the Monastery of Santa Chiara, the Archaeological Museum, among others. We will not miss the famous Neapolitan pizza.

Again, accompanied by our guide, we will have the opportunity to use some of the numerous funicular railways that connect the city centre to the upper districts, and visit the Charterhouse of San Martino, which offers a splendid panorama of the Gulf of Naples. We will not miss the Piazza del Plebiscito with the opera theatre and the Galleria Umberto.  For rail enthusiasts there are a lot of interest rail journeys you can do instead.

With an historical train (if available), we depart by rail for the city of Caserta today to visit the fantastic Reggia, the former royal residence constructed by the House of Bourbon as their main residence as kings of Naples. It is the largest palace erected in Europe during the 18th century and was designated in 1997 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Return by rail to Naples.
