Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration, Royal Yacht Britannia, 4th of June

The Queens’ Platinum Jubilee

In 2022, Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, seventy years of service, having acceded to the throne on 6th February 1952 when Her Majesty was 25 years old.

It will be a time of celebration not just for our monarch but for the country as a whole, as we come together to mark this historic occasion.

With events scheduled all over the UK from street parties to concerts,  we have planned a very special evening at a venue that has always been very close to Her Majesty’s heart, The Royal Yacht Britannia.

The RYB was always regarded as a haven for The Queen and her family to escape to – when time permitted. Commissioned by King George VI – The Queen’s father – in 1952, it was decommissioned in 1997. Over the years dignitaries and celebrities have dined on board, from Winston Churchill to Elizabeth Taylor.

What better place to celebrate than on this magnificent vessel.

A Black Tie Gala dinner

With exclusive use of The Royal Yacht, guests will find the same high standards today as when Britannia was in Royal service. The evening will start with a red-carpet welcome followed by Champagne and canapés in the ship’s drawing-room. Our pianist will entertain during the reception on Britannia’s original grand piano. The piano has been played by notable guests including Sir Noël Coward, Princess Margaret and Princess Diana.

Then you will enjoy a guided tour, where you have access to Britannia’s five decks, and a unique insight into the history of the Royal Yacht and how the Royal Family and crew lived and worked on board.

Remember to ask why all the clocks on board are set to 3.05pm.

Dinner in the State Dining Room

The sense of occasion builds as dinner is announced. The grand mahogany doors are opened to reveal the magnificent candlelit State Dining Room.

Using the finest, seasonal ingredients, the menus are created in the original Royal Galley and served by Britannia’s expert butlers. To complete your sumptuous 4 – course meal the chefs will be creating a very special dessert to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee

Dancing by Moonlight on the Royal Deck

After dinner you will adjourn to  Royal Deck to dance until the early hours accompanied by a swing band, reminiscent of a distant and dare we say it more glamourous era.

Historically, the Royal Deck was used by the Royal Family to host drinks receptions in sunny climes, but we think this fabulous space with floor to ceiling glass window is perfect for your after-dinner entertainment.

Then when all the dancing is done, we will be ready to take you back to your hotel for a good night’s rest.

There are two options for your luxury accommodation.
